| About KasiaD Thursday's Child has far to go... Born on a Thursday in Edinburgh, Scotland many moons ago KasiaD took this old saying seriously as her family first moved to the beautiful island of Mull and then back to the East Coast of Scotland. As a teenager she developed her own kind of wanderlust, working in Germany and London, before studying languages in Edinburgh. During the next few years, she lived in Germany, Belgium, France and Austria and travelled throughout Europe and beyond the Iron Curtain. Even before her first trip to Poland in 1985, she had an affinity with that country that led to her pseudonym KasiaD. Now based in Germany, she still travels widely within Europe with the occasional foray to the USA and even China and Vietnam. KasiaD is especially fascinated by the Scottish Highlands and Islands and has travelled the Outer Hebridean island chain from the golden beaches of Vatersay to the lighthouse perched on the rugged Ness Point, Lewis and visited the Inner Hebrides islands of Skye, Mull and Islay. Photography became a serious hobby with her first digital camera, a Nikon Coopix 885, at the end of 2000. The fun turned to passion, when KasiaD upgraded to a Nikon D70. Nowadays, her Nikon D200 and Sigma 18-200mm lens accompany her on her travels, together with a wide range of photo equipment for serious shooting trips. KasiaD is basically self-taught, having attended a few evening classes and being an active member of several photo communities. She has competed successfully in international photography competitions, made several photo books and created a travel book about Mallorca. While having eclectic tastes and varying motifs, KasiaD's main work is inspired by Mother Nature: coastal scenes, lakes and mountains, highlighted by unique cloud formations. KasiaD has a wide selection of aerial shots captured from commercial aeroplanes over Europe, parts of Asia and the USA.
